Today's Kitchen Tip: How can I keep my brown sugar from clumping

There are several things you can do to keep your brown sugar from clumping.

My favorite way is to take a piece of bread and place it in the brown sugar container.  I close the container tightly and allow the bread to stay there.  When you open the container, your bread will be hard and your sugar will be soft.  I just replace the bread when it is hard so my brown sugar always stays soft.

You can also do the same thing with an apple slice.  The only thing you need to be careful of is that the apple does not touch the sugar or the sugar will get wet where they touch.

You can also buy a clay brown sugar softener.  You just soak the clay disk in water, then keep it in your brown sugar container.

Any of these will work, but my favorite is the bread option.
