Today's kitchen tip: How do I measure dry ingredients

photo from Amazon.com
Did you ever wonder what the difference is between the glass measuring cups and the separate various size measuring cups?  The cups that are various sizes are used for measuring dry ingredients.

Usually they have handles that make it easy to scoop dry ingredients directly into the cups.

They usually come in ¼, ⅓, ½ and 1 cup measurements, but you can purchase unusual sizes such as ⅔ cup and 1 ½ cups as well.

Using a glass measuring cup is fine for liquid ingredients but does not allow for accurate measurements when measuring dry ingredients such as flour.
