Today's Kitchen Tip: Measuring wet ingredients

A liquid measure cup is perfect for measuring liquids but not so good for measuring things such as sugar or flour.  Usually you put the liquid into the cup and get down to eye level to see if you have the right amount of liquid in the measuring cup.  They can be glass or plastic and are usually see-through.

There are new, modern versions of the liquid measuring cup that have a strip in them allowing you to read from the top rather than bending down to get a good read.

While they are perfect for measuring liquids, they are difficult to use for measuring dry ingredients.  It is hard to get the right amount of things such as flour, without going way over or under the amount you should have.

I am a former information technology girl who left the business and opened up a cooking school. Cooking and entertaining are my passions and I love to share this passion with others. I am currently on hiatus from teaching classes, but hope to begin offering them soon. In the meantime, enjoy the tips. Students always told me how much they loved the tips and now you can, too. I'll put out a new tip each day.
