If you are defrosting a frozen turkey in the refrigerator, it takes about 1 day for every 4 pounds to thaw. So if you have an 18 pound turkey, give it at least 5 days to thaw properly.
Be sure to keep it in either a pan or bag while thawing so that the turkey 'goobers' do not get all over your refrigerator
