Today's Kitchen Tip: Make your own taco seasoning

I used to purchase pouches of seasoning mix when I made my tacos at home, but after thinking about the ingredients in the mix, I realized I had everything I needed to make the mix at home.  It's much more cost effective and  you can change the seasoning up to fit your tastes.

If you like mild taco seasoning, this mix is perfect, but if you have the Fire Department on "speed dial", you can add additional spices to your liking.

Taco Seasoning
  • 2 tbsp  Mild chili powder
  • ¾ tsp   Garlic powder
  • ¾ tsp   Onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp  Ground cumin
  • 2 tsp    Kosher salt
  • 1 tsp    Freshly ground black pepper

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and use as needed in your recipe.

Don't forget....if you use this mix a lot, make extra and save it.
