Today's Kitchen Tip: Is there an easy way to work with chocolate

Wilton Melts coating
One of the many brands
available at craft
stores
I love to use chocolate, especially around the holiday season.  Depending upon what you do, you may have to temper it so that it hardens properly.  For people who do not want to temper chocolate, there is a product that works well in its place.

This  product is a candy coating.  It comes in  many colors and flavors and is often available in craft stores.  The most common one I find is called Wilton Melts.  I love to use the various colors and flavors available.

Try dipping cookies in green or red for Christmas; orange and black for Halloween.  The options are endless.

Wilton Melts are available in Michaels, JoAnns and other craft stores.  Hobby Lobby has their own brand.

By the way....out of all the gourmet cookies I make for the holidays, my favorite (if you can believe it) is chocolate pretzels.  I love to use the white Melts to coat my pretzels.  I think the flavor is better than using white chocolate for that application.

I'll put out a new tip each day.
