If you have ever made a dish that did not turn out quite as you expected, that's fine. There is no such thing as a mistake in the kitchen. My motto is 'if you can't fix it...feature it'.
For example, I had a cake that broke and I could not frost it as planned. I took the slightly broken cake and turned it into a trifle. My guests loved it.
Did you overcook the vegetables? You may want to put some in the food processor and turn them into a delicious gravy.
I'm sure you have overcooked a beef or pork roast. I know I have. A little gravy will moisten the meat and add a lot of flavor too. Or pull it and make pulled pork/beef, add some BBQ sauce and you have a fabulous meal.
Sometimes it takes a bit of creativity, but you N-E-V-E-R have to let on that it wasn't exactly what you planned to do.
We are the place to find lots of tips for the kitchen. A new topic will be published each day.

I am currently on hiatus from teaching classes, but hope to begin offering them soon. In the meantime, enjoy the tips. Students always told me how much they loved the tips and now you can, too.
